Vespa Ciao

THis is my ciao page. CHeck it out, fast ciao!

Here is a fast ciao. Limited Muni Edition.

• Simonini Engine

• Simonini Pipe

• 21 Dellorto

• Malossi Variator

• Malossi 4 Petal Reeds

And some other stuff. It’s pretty fast right now, I’m not sure how fast maybe 50-60 mph. But it’s going to be faster soon. Next on the list is the malossi racing gears!. hopefully they will make the bike easier to ride too. It forcefully wheelies out of control. That and the unreinforced rigid frame, crooked rear wheel and rattling parts makes for a scary time.

It’s got a 16 in rear wheel off my bravo right now soon to be replaced with a rebuilt and hopefully true 17 in ciao wheel. with 2.25 gazelles front and back to stick to the road. I hate making wheels, specially vespa rear wheels.

eventually I will weld up a reinforced frame before I crash when this one breaks in half. Some other cosmetic details like front fender, new small tail light. and other stuff. I’m not sure if I like how long those puch forks are. I might try something shorter, we’ll see.

You can see the reinforced clutch bell on the back there. I have heard stories and seen pictures of exploded clutches, that turn to shrapnel. I cut a section of pipe that is about the same diameter as the clutch bell and welded it on. hopefully that will keep it together. works so far. I also put in the yellow malossi spring in the back. I had to cut off tabs on either side of the spring to get it to go in. Seems to variate fine with that and the variator weights that came with it.

Video of how to start this moped coming soon!!

The ciao is awesome. I like the colors and the lines….and obviously all the performance stuff. I didn’t put anywhere near that many parts into mine.

I think you’re going to have a hard time fitting a 17×2.25 Gazelle under that fender. The Gazelle has a pretty wide sidewall. I just had to swap out my front VM100, which has a similar sidewall to the Gazelle, for a 2.25 Cheng Shin in order to get it to fit under my fender. I was pretty disappointed. The Gazelle and VM100 have much better tread and higher speed ratings.

Luckily the gazelles do work, at least on a one inch wide x 17″ wheel. yes!

I think it’s butt-ugly, nice engine though, I have the old edition.

Good idea to reinforce the rear clutch, i’ve already heard of a guy blowing it up with this engine.

yo rufus, i can’t wait to see this in la! i’ll be out on my orange ciao, nothing compared to ciaociao (the one i’m building) and could never touch yours on speed, but i’m still pretty damn stoked to be on a ciao for the rally!
i’m looking forward to more updates about your monster ciao!
