pullin
the simple pull start theory that works for once. one acorn type nut shaped to fit a vespa pulley. wrap rope with handle around pulley. pull. pulley launches off and moped starts. finally.

Crazy. Nate Bandit and I sat in the driveway and came up with just about this exact same system Sunday night. Seriously. Accept with a few differences. I’ll post it up soon. So do you have to chase down the pulley every time after it flies off?
ha ha, is yours gonna be on a vespa? i got it now so the pulley launches off and spins out backwards on the ground for a second then i can stop it with my foot.
Hey man. I finally got around to posting my pulley set up. Kudos on the stock pulley idea.
Where do you get a acorn nut like that? Why not just weld the pulley to the nut and have the rope pull out?
it’s just a regular M8 accord nut that i grinded down on two sides to match the pulley. and i did try it with a pulley that was welded to a nut all in one piece. but it was too much rotating mass or something, to be on that nut and it came loose
That’s what I did. I welded the nut for the crankshaft on to one side and welded another nut on the other side so I could tighten it down. Then the pulley just spins with the variator and you don’t have to go chasing it down when it flies off…
that’s rad. maybe i should have used a smaller pulley. i’ve gotten pretty good at stopping the pulley from getting away when it flies off.
